Fluid mechanical simulation of fiber composite polymers
Motivation
Fiber-reinforced plastics are a key technology for increasing the sustainability of modern mobility in several ways. On the one hand, they are an excellent lightweight construction material, which helps to reduceCO2 emissions through weight reduction, but at the same time they can also be processed at significantly lower temperatures compared to metals, which reduces energy requirements in production.
In order to optimize production and the resulting component properties in the best possible way, it is essential to adequately model and simulate the materials. For this purpose, established simulation models for fiber composite plastics are to be applied and extended in order to achieve a better prediction and more sustainable production.
